The heat treatment process includes heating to above 10000°C to transform the brittle as-cast multiphase structure into single-phase austenite, followed by rapid water quenching. The single-phase austenite microstructure remains stable at room temperature, resulting in a ductile, high-strength material that resists fatigue from the crushing process. Welding areas or other heat treatments should be avoided as the material can easily revert to the brittle as-cast structure.
